There are many different ways to teach the letter K.

Using printable alphabet worksheets allows young children the ability to practice letter recognition, letter tracing, and letter formation.

In this printable worksheet, children will trace the capital letter k.

Tip: After printing, you can laminate the page or place in a sheet protector. Have your child use a dry erase marker for multiple practice opportunities.

Use this free resource to make fun crafts with the letter k.

For example, make a kangaroo or koala out of the letter k.

Your child can also use a marker to practice letter formation with this worksheet.

What are some educational activities to teach the letters of the alphabet?

  • Sing alphabet songs and practice each letter sound.

  • Read books and have your child point out each letter of the alphabet.

  • Use toys and name objects that being with each letter.

  • Use these letter tiles to find the letter k. You can also make a sensory bin with objects that begin with the letter k.

  • Use coloring pages to color objects that begin with the letter k.

  • Find objects around the home that begin with the letter k.

  • Make a bulletin board for young learners that focus on the alphabet of the week. Include letter cards and pictures of objects that start with the letter.

A great way to reinforce letter k recognitions is by teaching younger children letter k words.

Here are a few letter k sight words:

  • kid

  • know

  • kind

  • kick

  • kite

  • koala

  • kitten

  • kick

When teaching these words, it is also a good time to practice letter sounds.

Tip: Point out that the letter c and the letter k can both make the same sound.

What if I have older kids who still need assistance with the alphabet or letter sounds?

It doesn't matter if your child is in 1st grade or 3rd grade, you can use different worksheets to help them at home with their handwriting, letter recognition, and letter sounds.

These printables make great extra practice for older children who can feel comfortable at home working on the skills they need.

What other alphabet practice may older children need help with?

  • Abc order is a skill that even some 4th grade and 5th grade students struggle with.

  • Abc order is just the ability to organize words in alphabetical order.

  • When teaching abc order, remind children to look at the first letter, then the second letter, and so on of the word to determine the order.

  • Older children can also use a practice sheet to write the letters in cursive.
